I have played this course many times and I really like it. Tee boxes and greens were perfect and the fairways are coming in nicely. This is a well maintained course with some challenging holes. I believe they have Champion Bermuda greens and they are fast but consistent. The staff could be friendlier, but as long as they get us out on time, I don’t have a problem. The pro shop almost doesn’t exist, they have very few items. They have the usual snack bar. Nothing to rave about here, gatorade, cokes and they do have good tea. Hot dogs are good but about the same as everywhere else.
Tee boxes - The best tee boxes I’ve seen this year. They are perfect.
Fairways - The fairways are decent for this early in the year. They are greening up nicely and they have a good stand of Bermuda now. The fairways are fairly wide and most holes you can stay out of trouble. I felt like the yardage markers were easy to find and seem to be accurate. There was some good water on several of the holes to keep you honest and I thought it was set up beautifully.
Greens – It is early in the year but the greens were perfect. Well maintained. I thought the ball rolled the same on every hole, very consistent.
How did I play? The wind blew around 20 mph and gusts up to 30 or 35. A very tough day. But I was happy to be out playing instead of working.
Front nine - Shot a 47. 5 of 7 fairways hit, 3 of 9 GIR and 18 Putts.
I played ok on the front with a couple of shots at birdie. My short game was horrendous. Mid to long irons was pretty good. Putting was decent, but could always be better. I hit one of the best drives of the day on the #9 385 yd par 4. This was dead into the wind. I had 200 yds for the second shot. I’ve got to learn to keep the ball low.
Back nine - Shot a 50. 5 of 7 fairways hit, 2 GIR and 20 Putts.
Again, I drove the ball really well. Iron play was ok. My wedge play and short irons was horrible. On number 11, 167 yd par 3; I hit a 4 iron into the wind to the left side of the green. Chipped within 10 ft and two putted for a bogey. I had several missed opportunities.
Overall. We played 18 in 3 hours and 50 minutes. They were 2 of us playing and no one was behind us. It was a very good day. In my opinion, this is an excellent and very pretty course. I think it is a very challenging course but is still fun to play.
10 of 14 Fairways Hit
Only 5 GIR, how bad is this..
38 Putts, I need some real help here.
